Annual Red Goat Award

The Midtown Kingston Arts District (MKAD) is proud to announce the 9th Annual Red Goat Awards, a celebration of extraordinary individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts in Kingston.

Since its inception, the Red Goat Awards have honored those who have championed the arts and enriched the Kingston community through creativity, dedication, and service. The MKAD Board of Directors carefully selects the honorees each year, highlighting their remarkable impact. This year’s awardees are no exception, showcasing their unwavering commitment to fostering the arts and cultural growth in Kingston.

2025 Honorees

Barbara Scott
After graduating from Syracuse University with a BFA, Barbara’s career has been one part photo researcher and one part artist. After working for 35 years as a photo editor in textbooks, magazines and at The Wall Street Journal, she is focusing on her own visual art practice. Now in retirement, she is devoting herself to painting, taking workshops, learning from mentors, making work in her own studio, and continuing to participate in the supportive arts community here in Kingston.

Ward L. E. Mintz
Ward Mintz spent his 50-plus year career in museums, community arts and philanthropy. He began his career at the Brooklyn Museum, then founded the Jamaica (Queens) Center for Arts and Learning and subsequently, the Nassau County Museum of Art. He served as Deputy Director at the Jewish Museum and then at the Newark Museum. Mintz directed the Museum Program for the NYS Council on the Arts and recently retired as Executive Director of the Coby Foundation. His volunteer commitments include the Kingston Arts Commission, the Dorsky Museum and the Reher Center.
