On Wednesday December 4th, 2024 from 6-9 PM the Midtown Kingston Arts District is excited to hold it’s annual fundraising event, the MKAD Soirée 2024. The Soirée will be held at the elegant Senate Garage event space located at 4 N Front Street in Kingston New York.

The evening will feature a silent auction and paddle raise to support the Midtown Kingston Arts District. Donations to the Midtown Kingston Arts District ensures that art continues to thrive and enrich the lives of our community members, young and old. We will also present the Annual Red Goat Awards. The Red Goat Awards was originated by MKAD to thank and honor people in the community for their outstanding service to the arts.

The Todd Samara Art Fund Award will be given as well. Now in its sixth year, the Todd Samara Art Fund Award was created by the family and friends of Todd Samara (1943-2020) to preserve his legacy as an artist. This year’s $1,500 award is designed for proposals from emerging and established artists, art educators, and/or curators for a City of Kingston-based project. Applicants must reside or work in the city of Kingston.

Music at the Soirée will be played by the inimitable DJ Harlan, who’s passion for music and sharing jams with others knows no bounds.

Red Goat Awardees:

Chris Silva
After an extraordinary 30-year career with the Bardavon, Chris is set to retire as Executive Director at the end of 2024. We couldn’t let him retire without celebrating all that he’s accomplished to revive UPAC as the heart of the Midtown Arts District.

Nancy Donskoj
Along with being an accomplished professional photographer, Nancy’s dedication to building community through the arts in Kingston is unmatched – from working with the Arts Society of Kingston, bringing Sinterklaas to our city, reviving the Kingston Soapbox Derby to honoring the legacy of seminal Kingston artist Todd Samara.

Scott Dutton
Since 2000, Scott and his family have been stakeholders in the Midtown Arts District and quietly supporting the growth of an essential component of the community by providing quality spaces for the arts.
