Youth Workforce at MKAD
Check out the Youth Workforce Blog!
The Youth Workforce is a paid, out of school work-study program providing job training in art/non-profit management, arts education, leadership, and entrepreneurship for Kingston High School students and recent alumni. Youth Workforce students create exhibition spaces for Kingston High School alumni and area artists, keeping local artists engaged and supported. They assist teaching artists at The DRAW in arts education programming for kids, peers, and adults and act as ambassadors for The DRAW in collaborative projects with community partners and neighboring organizations. The Youth Workforce takes on projects to support The DRAW. and its community of artists including public art projects, curating and installing exhibitions in The DRAW’s gallery space, fundraising efforts, print projects, and beyond.
The Youth Workforce meets as a group, weekly, in The DRAW’s studio space in Energy Square located at 20 Cedar Street in Midtown Kingston, NY. Youth Workforce students receive direct mentorship from The Department of Regional Art Workers Education Director and Founder, retired KHS art teacher Lara Giordano and Youth Workforce Advisor, artist Beth Humphrey.
Youth Workforce students can earn a 0.5 KHS internship credit and then they can apply for paid work-study.
Youth Workforce meets and excepts new members on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Youth Workforce Members are selected by application only. The Youth Workforce is a tuition-free, paid work-study program.
