Riss Principe

Riss Principe is a mixed media artist and educator living in Kingston, NY. They graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts and minor in Mathematics. Now, Principe manages The Little Art Shop, an art supply shop in Catskill, NY. At the shop, they co-founded The Free Art Library which is an ongoing resource of free art supplies donated by and for the community.

They believe making art is for everyone and aim to translate that in their art education with a focus on process, experimentation of materials, and building of a strong technical base that allows their students to feel confident.

Principe’s current artistic practice is focused on creating large-scale paintings of their family using fabric dye. Their work has been exhibited throughout the Hudson Valley and at the Morgan Conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio.

Outside of their art interests, they are also a dog hiker! You can often find them at a nearby trail with a set of pups.
