5th Annual DRAW-A-THON

The DRAW-A-THON is back in Kingston on Saturday, August 2nd from 10 am — 10 pm! Just like in previous years, The DRAW space at 22 Iwo Jima Lane will be available to draw all over, from the walls to the floor. This time, you can expect some cosmic chaos as we’ve embraced a space theme with retro-futuristic flair. MKAD’s Youth Workforce worked hard preparing the event and crafting every unique prop and decoration.

This year, the DRAW-A-THON will be out of this world! Visitors will be able to spin the flying saucer to spark their creativity, use alien drawing tools, meet the incredible DRAW-A-TRON, and so much more! No pre-registration needed and all materials will be provided. The first 100 people receive an emergency drawing kit!

“I am most looking forward to seeing all of our interns’ hard work and ideas being shared with our community.”
– Youth Workforce Director, Beth Humphrey

Every year, we construct a tall “machine” that can produce a drawing at the press of a button called the DRAW-A-TRON! The DRAW-A-THON’s leading manager, Maizy Milliken, is creating the DRAW-A-TRON in line with the theming of the event. Here’s what she had to say about it:

My inspiration this year came from a lot of 1960s retro-perspective future kinds of things. I was looking at the robot from Lost in Space and Conky from Peewee’s Playhouse, they were my two biggest inspirations this years. I’m playing with all those fun shapes, and that’s where this all came from.

We hope you’ll come join us for the DRAW-A-THON and see the final product of Maizy’s DRAW-A-TRON!
