Rakel Stammer is a Danish-American interdisciplinary artist, puppeteer, printmaker, and award winning cartoonist. She lives in Kingston, NY, where she operates Obsessed Press, specializing in risography and screen printing.

Using beauty and levity, she addresses systems of power through an amalgamation of symbolism and political theory, by reimagining academic and historical research into printed illustrations. This awarded her a NYSCA grant for the production of a book of narrative illustrations, visualizing the dynamics of coercive control.

Her visual art and writings have been exhibited and published in Sweden, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Russia, the US and Denmark. Rakel is an alumni of The Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY, has taught at Krabbesholm Folk College in Denmark, and lectured at Södertorn University in Stockholm, Sweden.
